Wow! Google Unveils $249 Laptop

Search engine giant Google unveiled on Thursday a lightweight computer (left) in partnership with Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. that will sell for $249.

Samsung, which makes

forwp-incontent-custom-banner ampforwp-incontent-ad1"> smartphones and tablet computers that run on Google’s Android software, run on an operating system built on Google’s Chrome Web browser; in fact, the products have been dubbed, “Chromebooks.” The AP said the computers will be available across more than 500 Best Buy retail locations early next week.

“This is a big step in the journey for us,” said Sundar Pichai, Google’s senior vice president of Chrome and apps, according to the AP. “I think it’s generally an exciting time in the computing industry.”

Apple is also expected to launch a new product next week, widely rumored to be its new iPad mini.
