Women of Power – Moments to Remember from the Farewell Celebration

In closing an amazing week of empowerment, networking, and truth-owning, Black Enterprise Women of Power attendees enjoyed a farewell dinner and concert celebration featuring Grammy-nominated artist, Johnny Gill, with a comedy show by the self-proclaimed Gangster of Comedy, Capone, and the princess of Team Capone, Cookie.

The evening kicked off

with the acknowledgement of Women of Power 2016 top women in advertising and marketing where 25 esteemed advertising executives made a grand entrance to Jill Scott’s “Golden” before announcing the single word that best described their essence. The women individually recognized that they were powerful, tenacious, fearless, optimistic, resilient, authentic, bold, dynamic, enthusiastic, discerning, blessed, and awesome and all things empowered.

Senior Vice President of Global Connected Customer Experience of General Motors, Alicia Boler-Davis, provided remarks recognizing these exceptional women of power in advertising and marketing who have overcome barriers and challenges, ultimately, proving that they are unstoppable as thriving women of color. Boler-Davis encouraged attendees to go forth making decisions based on what they feel is right while being fearless in challenging the status quo. “This is how we make progress,” confirms Boler-Davis.

After the serious business of knowing your worth, owning your truth, and embracing your power it was time for laughs. In the most hysterical fashion, Capone recapped the elegance of the week proclaiming he’s never seen such a dynamic group of women ignoring the fact that their feet hurt in their entire lives.

Capone introduced his protégé, Cookie, who comically spoke of the week’s inspiration and how much it meant to her to be surrounded by such a dynamic and incredible women.

The evening concluded with a sensational performance by legend Johnny Gill highlighting his classic and new hits. Before the final goodbyes, attendees vowed to do it all over again next year.
