White House Screening of ‘A Trip to Bountiful’ Honors Cicely Tyson

The Lifetime channel recently released a television version. The film was recently screened at the White House where the cast was in attendance. The film featured Cicely Tyson, Vanessa Williams, Blair Underwood and Keke Palmer.

Michelle Obama says African-American History Month is about “honoring those who came before us” and “resolving to do our part to live up to that example.”

The first lady spoke Monday at a White House screening of Lifetime Television’s film version of “The Trip to Bountiful.”

Mrs. Obama says the month is also about honoring, in her words, “those who demanded more from the world around them and those who reached for higher standards through their life’s work.”
