Hunter, whom Williams was married to for 22 years and shares a 21-year-old son with, is “furious” about Lifetime’s new documentary Where is Wendy Williams? the U.S. Sun reported. Wendy’s former manager was blindsided by how the new doc depicted his ex-wife and her current condition.

One clip from the trailer shows a man asking Wendy if she drank an empty bottle of liquor that’s lying on the floor, to which Williams orders him to “keep the bottle there.” It was a hard moment for Hunter to watch.

“He found the scene in the trailer showing Wendy yelling over a bottle of vodka and appearing disoriented in the middle of New York City were ‘very sad’ to see,” a source said.

Hunter was against the documentary from the beginning. Insiders say he was always skeptical about how the doc would impact Williams’ already-tarnished image, as well as having their son Kevin Jr. involved.

“Kevin was shocked to see his ex-wife portrayed in such a negative light in the Lifetime trailer,” the source added.

“He was also totally blindsided that their son, Kevin Jr, ended up signing onto the project after he initially said he wanted nothing to do with it.”

He’s reportedly “furious” that his ex was “still being exploited to that level” in the wake of her halted television career. Hunter is also bothered by his son agreeing to appear in the documentary, initially saying he wouldn’t.

“Little Kev was repeatedly advised that it was a bad look to be involved in this project and that it was not in his best interest to have his name attached to it,” the insider added.

The documentary shows Wendy’s declining health from the time she exited her talk show in 2021. In the trailer, Wendy is depicted tearfully grappling with her health challenges while her family and friends make earnest efforts to provide support.

The shocking footage reveals the evident mental and physical toll Williams has endured in the years since exiting her daytime talk show.

“I’m financially strained, and I want to share something with you,” Wendy says in a poignant moment from the trailer. “If it can happen to me, it could happen to anyone.”

Where Is Wendy Williams? will debut on Lifetime Feb. 24 and 25, at 8 p.m.

The night before, Lifetime will air the Wendy Williams: The Movie biopic and her 2021 documentary, Wendy Williams: What a Mess.
