British designer Vivienne Westwood, 71, took jabs at First Lady Michelle Obama during an interview with The New York Times about her new “Punk: Chaos to Couture†exhibition at the New York Metropolitan Museum.
The designer, who recently voiced her not-so-nice opinion on Dutchess Kate Middleton, was frank with the New York Times.
The New York Times: You must love our first lady, who is famous for recycling her clothes?
Westwood: Don’t talk about her. It’s dreadful what she wears.
The New York Times: What?
Westwood: I don’t want to talk about it. Really, I can’t. She’s a very nice looking lady, but it’s a nonstarter regarding clothes that suit her.
Westwood did have nice things to say about former First lady Jackie Kennedy.
“She was a different matter altogether,†Westwood said. “It just had to suit her and be something that makes a human being more glamorous.â€
