The latest role for Viola Davis doesn’t require any acting at all. The 54-year-old beauty has been named the newest face of L’Oréal Paris.
Davis joins the likes of Jane Fonda, Helen Mirren, Courteney Cox, Celine Dion, Camila Cabello, Eva Longoria, Vanessa Williams, and her How to Get Away with Murder co-star Aja Naomi King, as the face of the popular brand. She is set to appear in ad campaigns for L’Oréal’s Age Perfect, with TV, print, and digital ads debuting later this month.
“We are thrilled to welcome Viola as a member of our family,” said Delphine Viguier-Hovasse, global brand president for L’Oréal Paris, in a statement. “Viola’s tenacity, authenticity, and bold spirit resonate with and inspire so many people. She challenges the status quo in all aspects of life and her drive to succeed has proven itself time after time—she leads by example and is the perfect conduit to elevate our core message, ‘Because I’m Worth It.’”
“As a young girl
, I wasn’t always told that I was smart, beautiful, or worthy,” Davis said. “ I worked tremendously hard to get where I am today—overcoming feelings of doubt to become a woman who truly believes I am ‘worth it’ in every way. I believe it’s so important to build confidence in women from a young age and to role-model diverse perspectives of beauty. To now be part of a brand that has been championing women’s worth for more than 40 years and to use my voice to help empower others is truly surreal.”Oscar, Emmy, and Tony Award winner Davis stars in and is preparing for the airing of the final season of her hit ABC show, How to Get Away with Murder. Off-screen, she’s a recognized activist for equal rights for women and people of color. She and her husband, Julius Tennon, produce independent films, TV, VR, and digital content with a focus on diverse and inclusive storytelling through their company, JuVee Productions.
