Vince Young Settles Lawsuit With Former Agent, Advisor

Maybe now former NFL quarterback Vince Young can focus on trying to get back on the field.

Hampered by legal troubles of late, the embattled Young has settled his lawsuit against his ex-financial adviser, Ronnie Peoples and former agent Major Adams II. A costly and perhaps lengthy jury trial would have begun Tuesday in a Harris County (Tex.) state district court, the Houston Chronicle reports.

The terms of the settlement between Young and Raleigh-based Peoples Financial Services, and Adams, were not disclosed.

From the Houston Chronicle:

Young’s attorney, Trey Dolezal of Austin, said terms of the settlement were confidential but added, “Vince is ecstatic to have this out of the way so he can pursue his football career.”

Peoples’ attorney, David Chaumette of Sugar Land, was not immediately available for comment.

Young, the former University of Texas All-America who most recently played with the Packers, accused Peoples and Adams of defrauding him and of conspiring with Pro Player Funding, a New York-based company, to obtain a $1.8 million loan in Young’s name during the 2011 NFL lockout.

Testimony was scheduled to begin Tuesday before 281st state District Judge Sylvia Matthews.

The settlement does not directly affect another case before Judge Matthews involving Young, 30. In the second case, Pro Player Funding is attempting to enforce a New York state court judgment against Young totaling $1.8 million plus interest for nonpayment of the 2011 loan.

Young, 30, a former Heisman trophy winner, was selected by the Tennessee Titans with the third pick in the 2006 NFL Draft. He last played for Green Bay Packers.
