UBR Spotlight: OMG Booth Puts New Focus on Old Business Concept

This week on The Urban Business Roundtable, UBR contributor Renita D. Young speaks with husband-and-wife team Mose and Shekita James, the co-preneurs who own the innovative Atlanta-based event photography company OMG Booth. The James’ photo booths integrate brand themes and props tied to specific events, including sports competitions, concert tours and conferences, combining amazing photography and the power of social media to create what they call the “OMG Experience.”

OMG Booth puts a unique and fun twist on modern-day event photography. Their innovative concept was created when

the James, after unsuccessfully searching for a photo booth for their wedding, decided to create an experience that their guests would never forget. Since then, OMG Booth has been featured at many notable events in Atlanta and across the country, including the Billboard Magazine and Chevrolet Dream Seekers Tour and the IKEA/O: The Oprah Magazine event reception.

Also, UBR Contributor Samantha Pass speaks with W. Sherman Rogers, author of The African American Entrepreneur: Then and Now (Praeger). Rogers, a professor at Howard University School of Law who’s

been twice named the school’s Professor of the Year, breaks down the skills, tools and information necessary for business success, as exemplified by great Black business owners past and present.

In addition, in my “Alfred’s Notepad” segment, I talk about my participation in the New Jersey Social Entrepreneurship Summit, and the importance of non-profit and social ventures having just as strong a profit motive as for-profit enterprises–and a sustainable business model to back it up.

And finally, every week on UBR, you’ll get motivation and inspiration from author and entrepreneurial icon Farrah Gray

, a weekly wrap-up of business news from USA Today business correspondent Charisse Jones, our Patient Investor Report from Ariel Investments and key economic intelligence for small business owners from our UBR economists Derrick Collins and Rasheed Carter.
