This week on The Urban Business Roundtable, UBR contributor Renita D. Young speaks with Nicole Jones, the founder and owner of Sensual Steps Inc., a high-fashion boutique selling designer shoes in her native Chicago. Also, the owner of NJ Management Co., a property rehabilitation, real estate management and development firm, Jones is better known as “The Shoe Lady.”
The author of two books, Dare to Walk In My Shoes—Confessions of a Sole Queen and Dare to Walk In The Shoes Designed for You (Sensual Steps Inc.), Jones hosts monthly seminars and events catered to the growth and development of women. She joins the Roundtable to share her journey to success and the steps she took along the way.
Also, UBR Contributor Samantha Pass speaks with top corporate player Keith Wyche. With more than 30 years of experience at some of corporate America’s most notable companies, including Ameritech, AT&T, IBM and Cub Foods, Wyche is the author of Good Is Not Good Enough: And Other Unwritten Rules for Minority Professionals (Portfolio Trade). He joins the Roundtable to offer practical insights on what it takes to make it to the top in business.
In addition, in my “Alfred’s Notepad” segment, I provide a year-end checklist to protect the most important asset of a small business: the owner. As entrepreneurs close 2011, it’s important for them to do an assessment of their skills, health (physical, mental, emotional and spiritual), sources of motivation and purpose, and to commit to changes to ensure that they’re truly ready to lead their companies in 2012.
And finally, every week on UBR, you’ll get motivation and inspiration from author and entrepreneurial icon Farrah Gray, a weekly wrap-up of business news from USA Today business correspondent Charisse Jones, our Patient Investor Report from Ariel Investments and key economic intelligence for small business owners from our UBR economists Derrick Collins and Rasheed Carter.
