Tyra Banks is a brand-new mom! The beauty entrepreneur and former supermodel announced the birth of her new son, York, on Instagram on Wednesday, Jan. 28. Banks and her boyfriend, Norwegian photographer Erik Asla, were able to have York with the help of a surrogate.

The photo shows a knitted baby cap, with the caption reading,
“He’s got my fingers and big eyes and his daddy Erik’s mouth and chin. As we thank the angel of a woman that carried our miracle baby boy for us, we pray for everyone who struggles to reach this joyous milestone.”York is the 42-year-old supermodel and businesswoman’s first child. Asla added, “Witnessing the dawn of life is possibly life’s greatest gift.”
In an exclusive statement to People, Banks shared, “We are so excited for our new baby boy bundle of joy. The journey to now has not been an easy process, as I’ve shared before. But there was a beautiful bright light at the end of the tunnel for me and his father, Erik.”
In the past, Banks opened up about her issues getting pregnant and using IVF, telling People, “When I turned 40, the one thing I was not happy about is that I did not have kids. When you’re like, ‘Okay, I’m just going to do it,’ then it’s not so easy as you get older.â€
