Traveling for the Holidays? Use Tech to Give Your Pet More Than a Kennel Stay

Two-Way Webcams
If an owner is fortunate enough to get a friend or family member to stay with their pet while they travel, it’s worth looking into a webcam or a number of gadgets available that allow you to interact with your dog or cat remotely.

A webcam such as the Netgear Arlo Q is easy to install, relatively affordable, and lets you keep dibs on your pet from a smartphone or tablet since the webcam connects to the Internet. In addition, to seeing your pet from anywhere with a mobile device, webcams such as the Arlo Q have two-way audio so you can speak to your pet remotely, as well.

There have recently been a number of gadgets introduced largely through Kickstarter and other crowdfunding efforts. One of them is iCPooch –it’s a device that allows you to hook up a smartphone and then use another smartphone when away, to interact with your pet via video and voice. The iCPooch device and app also allow owners to dispense a treat for their pets, also, remotely. There are a few other gadgets like iCPooch on the market, including the Petzi Treat Cam.

The joy of the holidays is spending time with family and loved ones. For many of us, family also includes our pets. So, if you can’t take them along, consider one of these alternate ways that will give your pet a better experience than a kennel stay when you are away.
