One week after releasing a joint statement announcing their breakup, Edmonds shared a candid Instagram post that confirmed who decided to end the relationship.

“I want to clarify that it was my decision to end the relationship, despite any different narratives being presented,” she wrote in a post captured by People.

“I’ve chosen to prioritize myself and my family, moving forward towards a future where I am valued, treated with honesty, and free to embrace the happiness and respect I deserve.”

According to the television producer, she decided to make the announcement to combat different narratives being put out there about the cause of the split.

“I hate to have to respond to the media, but sometimes it’s necessary when the falsehoods get out of control! ✌🏽❤️,” she added.

Edmonds and Sanders met in 2012 and announced their engagement in 2019. But on Dec. 3, the pair shared a joint statement announcing their separation as a couple and their future as “friends.”

“To EVERYONE who has been there for us, supported us, and shown us love…We have mutually decided that it is best for us to move forward in life AS FRIENDS and have made this decision with love in our hearts, respect for each other, and appreciation for the time we’ve shared together,” Edmonds and Sanders wrote in the Instagram statement.

“Please keep us in your prayers as we go through this transition. Thank you for being there for us ALL THESE YEARS! We love you and appreciate you SO MUCH!”

Sanders, known professionally as “Coach Prime,” took to the comments to confirm his continued love for Sanders despite the breakup news.

“Love u Tracey and You’ve been a true blessing to me,” he wrote. “I appreciate the times we’ve shared and the laughs we’ve had. You are an amazing woman and a tremendous mother. God bless u with every endeavor and every step u take. You are HER. Tracey-Mack !!!”

Sanders is busy coaching the University of Colorado Boulder’s football team while Edmonds leads productions as part of her Edmonds Entertainment Group.
