The film, written by Richard Wenk, is based on the television series of the same name, which starred Edward Woodward. Washington plays Robert McCall, a retired black-ops government agent who lives in Boston and works at a hardware store. When he helps a friend who’s been hurt by a Russian mobster, things get interesting.
