Recently, the job and recruiting website Glassdoor released their list of the ’50 Best Places to Work in 2016′ based off employee feedback about their company.
While the list serves as a great guide for professionals looking to switch jobs in the new year, one major criteria that has proven to drive growth in business seemed to be missing.

Diversity has proven time and time again to be one of the key factors that help a company thrive. According to a 2015 McKinsey & Co. study, companies that are racially and ethnically diverse and gender-diverse are 35% and 15% more likely, respectively, to outperform those that don’t make such a commitment. That’s why for 10 years straight, Black Enterprise has compiled their list of the best companies for diversity.

Sending surveys to 1,000 of the largest publicly-traded companies, Black Enterprise evaluated survey participants based off the following practices: representation of African Americans in senior positions, number of African Americans and other ethnic minorities on corporate board, total spending power with African American suppliers and percentage of African Americans within the employee base. Using these components, a list of the ’40 Best Companies for Diversity’ was compiled with four of the companies having a black CEO. It was also found that a total of 59 black female professionals hold senior management positions across these companies and a total of 72 black professionals are board members.
