The phrase “no new friends,” popularized by rapper Drake has been rampant all over social media. So much so that it has become a mindset to many. While it’s understood that in life one will have very few true friends, it’s important to note that this mindset doesn’t apply to all areas of life. Simply put, no new friends may equate to no new possibilities. As a life coach, one of my primary goals is to get my clients to experience life at its optimal levels especially in relationships. We do not realize how important relationships are to our overall success in life. The success we seek is directly related to the success of our relationships. Here are the benefits of expanding your network.
1. We only grow in the context of our relationships. No person is an island. We don’t have all the answers. It’s only when we connect with others that we get to encounter new perspectives, growth and exposure. Moreover, when we are open to expanding our network, we get to a chance to have a more enriched human experience. This can also lead to a richer business life as well as personal.
2. We are only a person a way from our breakthrough. What if you were literally one person away from the opportunity you’ve been seeking? But because of having a limited mindset, you missed the person who was designed to bless you. Be open.
3. We can learn from the mistakes of others. There’s nothing new under the sun. Someone who has succeeded at something you’re pursuing has a wealth of knowledge. They know the ins and outs and have made several mistakes. How will you get to glean from their wisdom if you are limiting the access to people in your life? Yes you can read books on successful people, but nothing beats a one on one interaction.
In the end, we have more contributing power to our success than we may realize. It’s important that we not miss on our future potential successes based on popular social ideologies. We are here to grow and expand.
Remember we have the ability to not only change our world, but the world as a whole. Be Great!
Until Next Time,
