Tiger Woods, Lindsey Vonn Sought to Devalue Paparazzi Photos With Announcement

Lots and lots of observers on Twitter and the rest of the Internet had gotten very self-righteous and sarcastic that Lindsey Vonn and Tiger Woods used Facebook (of all things) to ask for privacy as they go forward in their dating relationship.

Turns out that there was a method to the madness.

“Well, it’s very simple,” said Woods Wednesday from TPC Sawgrass in Orlando where he is preparing for the Arnold Palmer Invitational. “We’re very happy where we’re at, but we also wanted to limit the ‘stalkarazzi’ and all those sleazy websites that are out there following us. I’ve had situations where it’s been very dangerous for my kids and the extent they’ll go to. We basically devalued the first photos. Unfortunately, that’s just the way it is in our society right now, and we felt like it was the best thing to do. I’m very happy about it.”

The AP reported that Woods has never been one to like people or entities making money off of him.
