Profession: My profession is Financial Planner by industry standards, but I call myself a financial dream maker. I make sense of your dollars so you can get the life you deserve.

Age: 31

I have contributed to my industry by: actually educating my clients on how to make better financial decisions and showing them that wishing is not enough. You have to have S.M.A.R.T. goals, a plan to achieve those goals, implementation and accountability.

A self-made millionaire, Dominique Brown is a financial dream maker who has been helping hundreds of millennials and small businesses overcome their financial roadblocks to get to financial freedom. The owner of S&D Capital Holdings, Brown is living by example as he practices what he preaches through his “debt-to-riches” methods which helps clients with their financial planning and goal setting.

Raised in West Philadelphia by a single mother, Brown never let his family tribulations hold him back from pursuing his goals and dreams. “Despite humble beginnings and being just like a lot of African American men, who grew up in the inner city, I was able to become a millionaire by 30 and financially independent by 31 through the same techniques I teach my clients,” Brown tells BE Modern Man. “We live in a world of quick gratification and in-authenticity that I think my no-nonsense approach to life and finances makes me stand out.”

Inspired by his mother, Brown uses her example of hard work and dedication to not only educate himself but to help others in the process of reaching financial freedom. “90%

of my clients are African American millennials,” says Brown. “By educating them on benefits of financial planning, savings and investing I am directly contributing to making up the wealth gap.”

For Brown gratification comes by educating our people on how to change their family tree and make generational wealth. “The key to creating generational wealth is to start now,” Brown tells BE Modern Man. “You do not have to be perfect and believe it or not perfect never comes. You have what it takes to start and what you do not know you will learn as you grow.” The worst thing you can do is waste your youth and freedom because you’re scared.

There is a huge gap that exist as African Americans have a medium net worth of roughly $4,900 compared to $97,000 for non-African Americans. “It’s important that BE Modern Men

like myself are represented in my industry because we need more people teaching our communities how to close the gap,” says Brown.”A critical component to this is teaching the youth how to be financially savvy.”

The current narrative playing through just about every media outlet illustrates the black community as spenders who are merely concerned about flashing money as opposed to generating wealth. “The main goals I want to accomplish are the financial education of our people as well as working to change the actions of our people from consumers to savers and investors,” says Brown. “The reality is that we have the ability to use our money to changes lives and change negative financial behavior into good financial behavior.”

Brown believes that “personal finance is personal” so he handles each client with the individual respect they deserve to conquer their financial goals. “A BE Modern Man is a man who has integrity, who is humble and is looking out for the greater good.”

The goal is simple. Empower, and educate the young and old on the importance of financial planning. The BlackEnterprise.com team salutes Dominique Brown for his commitment to elevating the financial status of black men and women. We are honored to call him a BE Modern Man and commend him for opening up the doors to generational wealth through his work.
