Gratitude for Entrepreneurs: 3 Reasons to be Thankful You Took the Leap

It’s November and you already know what that means. Fried turkey, pecan pie, and of course, that bubbly, fresh out of the oven macaroni and cheese. But November is not just about the feast. It’s also about giving thanks. It’s the holiday season, when gratitude goes mainstream and the collective consciousness shifts in a positive direction. As you follow suit and begin to give thanks, don’t undermine the magnitude of owning your own business.

Entrepreneurship is a beautiful thing. It’s for tenacious, relentless, “won’t take no for an answer” warriors. If that’s you, pat yourself on the back and check out these three reasons you should be incredibly thankful you started your business.

You Did What Most Don’t.

Most people exist in the land of intention. They continually intend to do things they never actually do. In other words, they talk it, but don’t walk it. But you actually took action, reached your goal, and started your business. Consider yourself amongst the proactive elite. Most people fail to follow through; in fact, most people don’t even set goals. Influential leader Brian Tracy says only 3% of adults have well-defined goals. You are in the 3%. Be grateful for having the moxie to set goals and to move from intention to action.

You Can Have What Most Won’t.

How does it feel to be free–to be unchained from the 9 to 5 and all the demands that come with it? Breathe easy. You have what most people want: the ability to control your day and set your schedule. However, be advised. In no way am I suggesting that you should compromise your professional judgment or not be disciplined. Yet, there is something to be said about having the freedom to control your time and the ability to step away from it all. Be grateful that you are no longer a slave to someone else’s clock.

You Can Go Where Most Can’t.

The best part about being the captain of your ship is you’re no longer a hardworking subject under the glass ceiling’s rule. Because you own your own business, there is no ceiling. You shattered it when you said goodbye to your job and yes to charting your own course. Now, you have unlimited income potential, something you could never have working for someone else. Give thanks for the ability to financially go where most people can’t. Self-help guru Jim Rohn says, “Profits are better than wages. Wages make you a living, but profits can make you a fortune.”

There are numerous benefits to owning your own

business. Sometimes we forget all the great things entrepreneurship entails because we work so hard at it. But take time to smell your roses. Reflect on your progress and recognize the blessings your business brings. Gratitude, more than anything else, will elevate your success and serve you well.
