“Selma” director Ava DuVernay has become a superstar not only on the Hollywood scene but also in the toy world. Her Barbie doll went on sale yesterday and as of this morning has reportedly sold out.
She is among power women including Kristin Chenoweth, Emmy Rossum, Trisha Yearwood, Lucky editor-in-chief Eva Chen, and fashion designer Sydney “Mayhem†Keiser featured in the “Sheroes” series of dolls.
DuVernay has been nominated for two Academy Awards, four Golden Globes, five Critics Choice awards, eight NAACP Image Awards and five Independent Spirit Awards and stands as a forerunner in her industry.
Thx to all who celebrated black girls, women filmmakers, natural hair + a good tennis shoe via this doll. Happy. xo! https://t.co/4U5KOhrinL
