As the late-night electoral vote counts came in for swing states around the country Tuesday, many news outlets, from CNN to the BBC, had already proclaimed victory for Barack Obama as the 44th president of the United States and the first black man to hold the office in the nation’s history.
Wednesday and today, newspapers across the globe echoed the enthusiasm, excitement, and jubilation in bold headlines and prominent front page design, with many editions of newspapers selling out within hours of release. These pieces of history will remind all of us for years to come of the momentous nature of such an election and such at triumph.
