Smithsonian Hosts Black Women’s Hair Forum

Do black women ever tire of talking about their hair? Probably not. The debate over “going natural” is ongoing, according to the Washington Post

In that spirit, the Smithsonian’s Museum of African Art will on Friday host “Health, Hair and Heritage” — a panel discussion that intends to sort out some of the debate.

“I think there are few discussions that are of greater interest to a large number of African American women,” museum director Johnnetta Betsch Cole told the Post. “It is no secret that we say among ourselves that the struggle with the hair continues.”

If you find yourself in Washington, D.C. this evening, consider adding a voice to the discussion. The event runs from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Smithsonian’s Ripley Center Pavilion, 1100 Jefferson Dr. SW.
