Do black women ever tire of talking about their hair? Probably not. The debate over “going natural” is ongoing, according to the Washington Post
. (Not that we needed a newspaper to confirm that.)In that spirit, the Smithsonian’s Museum of African Art will on Friday host “Health, Hair and Heritage” — a panel discussion that intends to sort out some of the debate.
“I think there are few discussions that are of greater interest to a large number of African American women,†museum director Johnnetta Betsch Cole told the Post. “It is no secret that we say among ourselves that the struggle with the hair continues.â€
If you find yourself in Washington, D.C. this evening, consider adding a voice to the discussion. The event runs from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Smithsonian’s Ripley Center Pavilion, 1100 Jefferson Dr. SW.
It’s free and open to the public. Click here to register for the event.
