Insureon, the nation’s leading online provider of small-business insurance, today announced a scholarship opportunity for college students whose lives have been impacted by small businesses. The scholarship consists of two $2,500 awards, granted to winners of an essay contest.
The contest opens today and closes April 30, 2014. Two winners will be announced June 4, 2014. To enter, students must write an essay of 500 to 1,000 words about how a small business (whether their own, a family member’s, or one they worked for) has shaped their life and submit that essay via insureon’s scholarship application form.
Ted Devine, Insureon’s CEO, noted that he’s thrilled to be able to sponsor the scholarship. “Small-business owners are the future of the economy,” he said. “College students with an interest in small business should be encouraged to pursue that interest and supported in every way possible.”
He added that, for children of small-business owners, finding money for college is often a struggle, and is happy that insureon’s Small Business Scholarship will help ease that burden for some families.
To be eligible to win, students must be enrolled at an institution of higher education for fall 2014. After the contest closes onApril 30, insureon’s scholarship team will read all entries and select two winners. Those winners will be notified privately and announced on the insureon website by June 4, 2014.
