Are You Guilty of Showrooming?

View Quiz

While many shoppers are saving, retailers are getting hit hard by the rise in showrooming. For those unfamiliar with the term, showrooming is the practice of checking out a product in a physical retail store, only to purchase the item online. Oftentimes those guilty of showrooming save big by making purchases on the web.

Retailers are ditching big department stores like Best Buy, Walmart and Target for online deals. An infographic (shown below), provided by CouponChief.com

, shows that close to 60% of shoppers are showrooming. The recent shopping trend has caused brick-and-mortar business
owners to begin offering online-price matching, and, on the flip side, implementing “just looking fees” and ridding the store of specific products altogether. Gadgets, ranging from smartphones and tablets, are showrooming favorites.
