Last Saturday, the Director’s Guild of America held their award ceremony. At the ceremony, Shonda Rhimes and her production partner were honored with the 2014 Diversity Award.
According to Uptown Magazine: “This particular award is designated for creators and producers who strive to employ women and people of color in their work.”
Although it was an honor, Rhimes vocalized her distaste that an award like that still exists in this day and age.
“Rhimes admitted that she was “pissed off†that the honor still exists, saying, “There’s such a lack of people hiring women and minorities that when someone does it on a regular basis, they are given an award.â€
