More than 80 years after nine young black men were convicted by all-white juries of
raping two white women on a train in Alabama in 1931, the Alabama Legislature has voted to pardon “the Scottsboro Boys”, the Associated Press reports.The bill still must be signed by Gov. Robert Bentley to become law, but his press secretary says he favors the pardons.
The House and the Senate approved the legislation in a unanimous vote.
