President Obama’s old stomping grounds are in an uproar over education.
26,000 Chicago teachers and staff are striking for the first time in 25 years for better schools and fair contracts, thus displacing 400,000 students.
Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney released a statement hours before heading to Chicago for fundraising, siding with parents and students, and criticizing the president for choosing to side with educators.
The president’s spokesman had issued a statement which states that he has taken no sides and wishes the conflict to be resolved swiftly.
