Risingstars is a program within Techstars—a global ecosystem that empowers entrepreneurs to bring new technologies to market—that offers tech startup opportunities to individuals who are underrepresented in the technology community. The highly selective Risingstars program pairs entrepreneurs with Techstars alumni to help develop the entrepreneur’s vision into a viable company. Risingstars and Techstars meet vitually, about once a month for a year, and communicate regularly via email.

During the mentorship, the entrepreneur’s company applies to one of the Techstars locations to receive hands-on assistance with their alumni mentor. Acceptance into Techstars is not a guarantee, however.
At the Entrepreneurs Summit in Atlanta, Georgia, Risingstars Founder Tom Chikoore will be among the featured speakers. Chikoore will accompany Chris Bennett of Soldsie and Black Enterprise Tech Editor Joel Lyons in the Need for Speed: Accelerating Your Tech Startup session. The conversation will discuss minorities in tech, groundbreaking tech startup accelerator programs, and young companies that are making significant strides towards success.
