According to NBC Sports, Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson will plead no contest to one count of misdemeanor reckless assault. The NFL player was charged earlier this year with a felony child abuse charge and was placed on the commissioner’s exempt list.
If all goes well, Peterson will pay a $2,000 fine, be placed on probation, and perform
80 hours of community service. After the case is resolved, the NFL can reinstate or keep Peterson on the commissioner’s exempt list, as Commissioner Roger Goodell is the only one who can make that decision.“We will review the court documents,†NFL spokesman Greg Aiello stated via email. “We cannot speculate on a timetable for a decision.â€
If and when Goodell reinstates Peterson, the Vikings would either have to allow the running back to return to the team or be required to release him.
