A frenzied spate of hair extension heists have been sweeping major U.S. cities such as Chicago, Philly and Houston. In most demand is the Remy brand hair extensions.
Remy, the highest grade of real, human hair on the market costs anywhere from $100 to thousands of dollars per pack and is so highly sought after, a competitive underground market for the goods has emerged.
“They’re selling them to hair salons,” said Shayna Crosby, who works at John’s Beauty Supply, told CNN Money. “People even sell them online or out of the trunk of their cars.”
