Small Business Federal Contracting Week Helps Entrepreneurs to Compete
The 10th Annual National Small Business Federal Contracting Week prepares small businesses to compete in the Federal marketplace through access to top-notch education, key contacts and the latest federal supplier trends.
Presented annually by the National Association of Small Business Contractors / The American Small Business Chamber of Commerce and the U.S. Women’s Chamber of Commerce, the 2014 summit will be held in Washington, DC on March 26-27, 2014.
A new segment on reverse auctions has been added this year. Joe Jordan, President, Public Sector, FedBid will provide an introduction to reverse auctions and the opportunities for small businesses. Mr. Jordan, who recently served as the White House Administrator for the Office of Federal Procurement Policy, has a strong history in small business previously leading the Federal Procurement Office at the Small Business Administration.
“We are excited to have Joe Jordan taking part in this year’s summit; it is very important that small businesses actively take part in reverse auction competitive opportunities,” said Cris Young, President of the National Association of Small Business Contractors.
Other topics and speakers include: “Positioning Your Business for Last Quarter Opportunities”; “Preparing to do Business with Primes,” presented by Lockheed Martin; “Legislative Update,” House and Senate Small Business Committee Briefings; Federal Agency Briefings; “Rules of the Road for Access to Contracts” by Air Force; and “Regulatory Update” by Covington & Burling, LLP.
The summit also provides one-on-one meeting opportunities between small businesses and dozens of federal agencies and prime contractors including: Air Force, Army, Agriculture, Homeland Security, Defense Logistics Agency, HUD, Education, Labor, State, Lockheed Martin, BAE, APTIMA, IBM, and Walsh Group.
On the afternoon of March 25, 2014, participants are invited to take part in advocacy for small business suppliers during an “On the Hill” session with Members of Congress. The Women’s Chamber is also presenting the WOSB National Council Spring Conference on March 26th.
