UBR Spotlight: Literary Agency Founder Regina Brooks

This week on The Urban Business Roundtable, just in time for Women’s History Month, UBR contributor Samantha Pass speaks with women’s history maker Regina Brooks, the first African American editor of the college division for publishing giant John Wiley and Sons who would go on to found Brooklyn-based Serendipity Literary Agency, named one of the top 25 literary agencies in the country by Writer’s Digest Magazine.

Brooks began her career as an aerospace engineer, before shifting to her interest in publishing and the literary world, eventually launching Serendipity. The agency has represented and established a

diverse base of award-winning clients in adult and young adult fiction, nonfiction and children’s literature. In 2010, Brooks was named Woman of the Year by the National Association of Professional Women and was awarded the Rising Star Award by the New York Urban League. She joins the Roundtable to share how a simple change of heart led her to business and professional success.
