Racial Wealth Gap Has Tripled Since Reagan

Despite supposed equalization in race relations, a new study released this past Wednesday by Brandeis University shows that the wealth gap between blacks and whites has tripled since the Reagan administration, the Huffington Post reports.

The study followed 1,700 households between 1984 and 2009, and looked at disparities such as home ownership, income, unemployment, college education, and inheritance.

The study found that the median white household had a net worth of $265,000 by 2009, eight times more than the median black household’s net worth of only $28,500.
