With all the talk about the her racist remarks, people probably forgot that Paula Deen revealed she has Type 2 diabetes last year. Deen’s revelations led to a lucrative endorsement deal with a diabetes drug company.
Now, the Danish pharmaceutical company, Novo Nordisk, has suspended its relationship with Deen following her n-word controversy. Deen was
paid $6 million for a two-year contract to promote the drug Victoza, the New York Times reports .From the company’s statement issued on Thursday: “Novo Nordisk and Paula Deen have mutually agreed to suspend our patient education activities for now, while she takes time to focus her attention where it is needed.â€
Suspension of Deen’s lucrative deal follows announcements by Target, Home Depot and Wal-Mart that they would stop carrying her products. QVC may be on the verge of doing the same.
