Source Alleges Meghan Markle Was Not Pleased With The Royal Family Hierarchy
A source claims Meghan Markle felt her status as a “self-made” woman gave her more of the right to speak at events.
A source has revealed details about tensions within the royal walls.
The source alleges Meghan Markle “felt she had more of a right to speak” when attending certain events because of her status as a “self-made” woman and philanthropist. According to Daily Mail, the claims were sparked by the Royal Foundation Forum in February 2018, where tensions were noted to be obvious among the “Fab Four” of the royal family.
The source revealed alleged friction between the Duchess of Sussex and Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, that dates back to their first meeting.
Harry revealed in his book, Spare, that Meghan did not receive the expected gracious welcome when her relationship with Harry became serious. In Omid Scobie’s book, Finding Freedom, it was written that Kate did not establish a “meaningful” relationship with Meghan.
The inside source claims when Meghan first became a member of the royal family, she was not satisfied with the idea of the Prince and Princess of Wales being higher up on the palace hierarchy. The source said, “Meghan regarded herself as a philanthropist who could teach the royals a thing or two about charity,” alleging this as the reason the Duchess of Sussex believed she had “more of a right to speak.”
“I think she found it difficult that the Royal Foundation was already a well-oiled machine by the time she got there,” the source continued.
The outlet reported that Harry and Meghan have continued to face backlash. William is pursuing actions against the royal couple after his wife and Charles were named in allegations of racism. The claims of racism pertain to the royal family’s “concern” over Harry and Meghan’s son, Archie’s skin color. Details of the claims are mentioned in Scobie’s Book Endgame.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have not spoken about the book, and sources close to the couple have dissociated the couple from the book. According to the outlet, no one close to the Duchess of Sussex leaked the information, and it was not Meghan’s intention to publicly name the Prince and Princess of Wales in the racism claims. The book will be addressed during a meeting with King Charles and Prince Harry next week. The family is said to keep the matter “business as usual,” but the decision remains in the hands of King Charles. Sources say King Charles will take his time with the matter. “Being falsely branded a racist in print is a serious allegation that must be treated seriously. All options are still on the table,” a source said.
Amid the backlash the couple is facing, Hugh Grosvenor, the Duke of Westminster and one of Harry’s close friends, who is also Archie’s godfather, elected not to invite the couple to his society wedding to prevent his event from being overshadowed by the royal family “drama.”
Harry and Meghan also risk losing their Duke and Duchess title in a bill enacted by conservative MP Bob Seely. Seely’s efforts will use laws from the First World War to revoke the couple’s titles because he finds it “poisonously insidious” that the couple used racial claims to tarnish the family’s name.
Ethel J. Davis, principal of VZD Capital Management, talks about five strategies business trailblazers employ.

In life and business there are trailblazers – those who cultivate the course of uncharted territories – and followers who travel established courses. Just as antiquated methods can lead to business failure, innovation can be vital to business success.
BLACK ENTERPRISE recently spoke with emerging business owner, Ethel J. Davis – principal of VZD Capital Management. She is the first African American female to own 100% of a Registered Investment Advisory firm in the Midwest, and one of only a few within the U.S. Davis started her firm in 2012 and is creating a path to success for others to follow.
Here are some success tactics Davis shared with us:
Fiduciary Responsibility. We all have fiduciary responsibilities: to our employees, employers, communities and families. Each day you are creating a legacy that will be analyzed and reviewed for years to come. Your standard should be one of excellence. This realization is why Davis chose to name her company after her deceased parents, a daily reminder that she is carrying out a legacy of success for them and for future generations. While customizing client portfolios to honor their legacies, Davis believes in having “skin in the game,” this is also her rationale for being a fee-based versus commission-driven advisor.
Kill the Ego. You don’t make it to the top alone. It takes a support team to make the dream come true. Whatever the current level of success, you can’t be so deep in the business that you can’t grow the business. Surrounding herself with mentors has enabled Davis to receive multiple business accolades and recognition. Remember: you are the rainmaker. When you hit a plateau, it’s time for change. Investigate more efficient procedures, implement more cost-effective processes, learn to delegate responsibilities, and ask for help in areas you know could use improvement. To get a different output, you may need to change your input.
Passion Over Money. As a professional, the decisions you make can’t be solely based on the greatest source of revenue. When you make choices based on what’s best for your customers, it will lead to greater success and result in higher revenue. Take leaps of faith by following the path predestined for you. When you pursue your passion and have the right intentions, everything else will follow.
Know the Value of Your Value. Whether you provide goods, services, or both, your price should be based on value. Look for fresh ways to differentiate yourself from competitors and give more value to clients. Consumers are willing to pay for quality versus quantity and you must be able to effectively communicate your value add. Also, it isn’t a good practice to enter the market at a low price point. Cheap prices can make customers feel like they are getting a reduced service. Remember the saying “you get what you pay for”? Know the value of your business and skill-sets, and don’t be afraid to charge a comparable fee. You must set the standard as an industry leader and let others follow in your footsteps.
Founder Of Happy Black Woman Shares Affiliate Marketing Secrets
Black Enterprise sat down with Rosetta Thurman the creator of Happy Black Woman to discuss how she uses affiliate marketing.

Black Enterprise sat down with Rosetta Thurman, the creator ofHappy Black Woman, to discuss how she uses affiliate marketing and its significant role in her own wealth creation and business model. It’s frankly an area that many Black-owned businesses are not capitalizing on.
For those unfamiliar, affiliate marketing is earning a commission through either the promotion of another brand or company’s products, tools, or services, or shared revenue from selling products and services to joint customers and audiences.
The adage “Your network is your net worth” has never been more true for so many business owners operating in the digital landscape. But are we fully maximizing its benefits?
As an entrepreneur building a business, creating multiple revenue streams has become increasingly important. The wonderful thing about the digital age is the incredible power business owners have to increase their networks and spread the word about their products and services, and earn revenue from those connections by helping their fellow entrepreneurs do the same through affiliate marketing.
Even new entrepreneurs are benefiting from this marketing strategy in two important ways. The first one, which is quite obvious, is generating passive revenue by partnering with companies that share your values. The second benefit is expanding and nurturing their own communities by recommending beneficial tools, services, and products. The results? Entrepreneurs are adding incredible value to their community while simultaneously establishing trust and authority—both necessary to attract the right kind of clients and customers.
As Thurman shares, various ways exist to create profitable and mutually beneficial affiliate relationships. She even exclaimed joy at our asking her to discuss affiliate marketing because, as she says, “No one ever asks me about this.”
Happiness You Can Take to the Bank
In just over two years, Rosetta Thurman has built a multi-ethnic, multicultural community of almost a quarter of a million women worldwide. Happy Black Woman helps women’ create their ideal life.’ Thurman emphatically states that The Happy Black Woman is Rosetta herself. And thanks to the business and life tools she shares through her online platforms, she has created a thriving business fueled by her community of Happy Women across the globe. She’s created a multiple six-figure business, living from the one suitcase she says all her belongings fit.
Calling it her ‘Cycle of Liberation,’ “when you do one thing that makes you realize it’s possible for you to do anything,” in 2010, she started her quest to find out what made her happy. Living in the Washington, DC area at the time and working a corporate position, she quit her job, cut her hair, and went natural, aka ‘The Big Chop,’ and began hosting happy hours and blogging about her journey. What she found was a community of women who were also feeling unfulfilled but desperately wanted: Happiness, Success, and Freedom. The three words became a recurring theme and guided all of Thurman’s decisions for her community.
The Ins and Outs of Affiliate Marketing
In 2007, Rosetta became familiar with affiliate marketing programs through the help of a fellow blogger during her days working in nonprofits.
The concept intrigued her. She says, “I’m always telling people about resources. Turns out, a lot of these businesses that I’m promoting have affiliate programs.” She recalls that the decision to become involved was easy, “It was just a no-brainer to test it out for myself to see how it would work.”
With helping others in her community being the main objective, Thurman’s first big affiliate relationship was when she partnered with Bluehost while informing others about how they could successfully start their own blogs. By simply providing her personal recommendations about the hosting provider, she made $900 in one month. She says she was “so amazed” that “just by sharing resources,” that she would share even if there were no financial incentives, she could bring in that kind of revenue.
But Thurman is sure to emphasize that although the financial payoff for participating in affiliate marketing can be great, it’s not a simple get-rich-quick scheme. To be successful at affiliate marketing, she advises participants to think like marketers.
She says, “The real benefit is that by participating in affiliate marketing, if you’re promoting someone else’s product or service, you learn how to think like a marketer instead of just saying, ‘Hey, everybody. This product is great. Go buy it. Click here.’”
It takes asking the very important questions, “What are the benefits of this product? Why would somebody want to use it? How have I used it to great success?”
The result is increased revenue and awareness of how to market your products and services to others.
Through participating in affiliate marketing, Rosetta realized how to connect creating content with making sales.
Monetization: An Elusive Concept
Thurman says the connection between content creation and sales “is the same connection you need to make in your business where you’re putting out free content, but at the end of the day, you want people to buy something. [Affiliate marketing] teaches you how to do that in a powerful way.”
But, entrepreneurs don’t have to limit themselves to corporate partnerships only. There’s another way affiliate marketing works to broaden your reach and broaden the promotion of your products and services without breaking the bank with paid marketing. Creating relationships with other individuals who have businesses is a powerful way to partner and provide value by audience sharing.
With the ever-expanding digital age comes telesummits—a relatively new form of affiliate marketing—allowing business owners to partner virtually to provide the audience with valuable content via live or recorded phone presentations or interviews on topics of interest. For the relationship to be successful for all involved, Thurman explains, “The idea is that all of the speakers are promoting the telesummit, but at the same time, depending on the host, there’s an opportunity for you to be an affiliate for the sale of the recordings of the telesummit. This structure leverages the audience of each participant, exposing participants to a new and broader base of potential customers.
Thurman participates in a variety of telesummits annually because “it allows me to share wonderful information with my community that they want, that they need, that is going to improve their lives, which leads straight to my mission of helping women and empowering them to create their ideal lives.”
She also says that for new speakers looking for opportunities to “get their feet wet,” telesummits provide wonderful opportunities to gain experience.
Determining a Good Fit
Rosetta has participated in affiliate marketing on both sides of the transaction, which is great news for you as the reader because she shared with us great insight into what you should consider before partnering with someone and what she never does.
Positioning yourself as a good potential partner works well when using the program or product you intend to market. Vendors, especially those offering programs, look to prior clients and customers as ideal brand ambassadors. And, of course, “It goes both ways in terms of finding great partners….You know that [a provider would] be a great partner because you already experienced the content and the training that they have put out there.”
You also want to be sure you are providing something your community will benefit from. Don’t just take the dollars. It may be that you will get 75% of every sale, but if the product isn’t a good fit for your audience, they likely won’t buy and may even lose trust in you. In either case, that would be a failure for you.
Another consideration that potential partners look at when determining fit is the reach. This is especially true for telesummits, described above, where participants are expected to market the program to their respective platforms and audience.
Thurman clarifies, “Don’t count yourself out because you may not have a big email list, because you may have a huge following in other ways. When I say reach, reach is really a combination of your email list, your website traffic, and your social media following. If you don’t have a large reach Thurman suggests using Facebook ads, citing them as “one of the ways that we have grown Happy Black Woman over the past two years. Facebook ads make it even more accessible for the average person to grow their reach. [Facebook is] huge.”
Getting Paid
Once it’s been determined that potential partners will become actual partners, we asked Thurman for suggestions that people can implement to protect themselves and ensure payment for delivering their end of the bargain, as agreed. She suggests starting with corporate affiliate relationships before venturing into relationships that are more like joint ventures, pairing your brand with another business’ brand.
She says it’s likely the Post Office’s error if you don’t receive payment from a corporate affiliation, which “is pretty much foolproof as I have experienced it.” Note that many corporate affiliates make payments right into your PayPal account or by other electronic means.
To protect your interests, Thurman suggests, “You really do have to make sure that the people you are partnering with…have had a proven track record” with the product, service, or program with which you’re considering becoming affiliated.
The Affiliate Marketing Checklist for Success
Thurman stresses three points to ensure a good fit and prompt payment for any affiliate relationship you embark upon:
Ensure the product is the right fit for your audience. This was something that she stressed throughout our interview. She cited it as the main reason folks fail when adding affiliate marketing to their revenue creation efforts. Success with affiliate marketing does not just mean revenue generation.
Make sure that your partners have great reputations in the industry. “Google is your friend…I Google everybody.” You are responsible for doing your due diligence. People can promise you anything, but you want to know what others say about them. Also, sometimes folks are brand new and overestimate what they can deliver. Because of this, Thurman NEVER works with anyone brand new. She explains her reasoning further, saying, “Just because I know that there are growing pains that we all need to go through, and I don’t want that to be our first experience together.” And despite the criticism she gets from others suggesting that she may be missing out on the “next big thing,” it’s a precaution she stands by.
Don’t just chase the money. “Keep your community first. If you are a fashion blogger and all of a sudden you’re writing about gluten-free bagels to get an affiliate commission from some bagel company, it just is not going to make sense to your readership, and it’s not going to work. You’re not going to profit from it, and your community is going to be confused.”
Does it seem like numbers one and three are the same? They are. That’s how passionately Thurman feels about adding value to customers and audience. And that is why her brand is so popular and profitable. She thinks about her community members above dollars and, in so doing, has created an empire that enables her and many of her community members to live lives of happiness, success, and freedom.
Ohio Republicans Propose Sweeping Changes To Cannabis Legalization Measure
Ohio Senate Republicans have proposed numerous and significant changes to the cannabis legalization measure Ohio voters pass last month
Ohio Senate Republicans have proposed numerous and significant changes to the cannabis legalization measure Ohio voters passed.
The Associated Pressreports the changes include: banning the growth of cannabis at home, increasing the cannabis tax rate to 15% for cannabis products and cultivators, and altering how the taxes are distributed. The changes come days before the new law legalizing cannabis is set to take effect, and their fate in the Senate and GOP-led House are unclear.
Under the measure that was passed, Ohio residents would be able to grow up to six plants at home and 12 per household, according to the outlet. The measure also included a 10% tax rate for cannabis products and cultivators. Tax revenue from cannabis would go to local governments hosting dispensaries and a social equity program supporting those who wish to break into the cannabis industry.
However, under the Senate Republicans’ proposed changes, the revenue would go toward general state funding, law enforcement training, substance abuse treatment and prevention, and safe driving training.
Under the proposed changes, employers would also be able to set their own rules for their employees’ cannabis use and testing measures, allowing them to fire employees without violating discrimination laws.
Ohio Republicans pushed for a no vote on the measure, citing concerns about the impact cannabis would have on the workplace and traffic safety. Additionally, state Republicans are also worried that the measure earmarks none of the tax revenue for Ohio counties that administer social services programs directed at drug use, addiction, and other issues that could surface due to the passing of the cannabis measure.
Tom Haren, a spokesperson for the campaign Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol, criticized the changes, saying they will push Ohio residents to buy cannabis in Michigan, hurting the state’s tax revenue from cannabis.
“Some in the Ohio Senate propose to gut Issue 2’s most important provisions, including home grow and social equity, and to put in place higher taxes that will entrench the illicit market and force Ohioans to continue to buy their cannabis products in Michigan,” Haren said in a statement according to the AP. “This is not what voters wanted.”
Ohio became the 24th state to pass recreational cannabis legislation when the ballot measure, known as Issue 2, passed with 57% of the vote.
If the proposed changes make it past the Senate, the Republican-majority House would still have to agree to the changes. Gov. DeWine would also have to sign off on the changes.
Update: Bronny James Not ‘Cleared Fully’ To Play In USC Games
"He's done a good job of getting his conditioning and his strength back," according to USC Trojans basketball coach, Andy Enfield
The anticipation of Bronny James making his collegiate debut has sports fans, specifically at the University of Southern California (USC), ready to witness what the son of LeBron James can do against his college peers. But, they have to wait just a little longer as the freshman has not been “cleared fully yet,” according to his basketball coach.
According to ESPN, although he has been cleared to return to playing basketball by his medical team, Bronny participated in practice at USC in a limited capacity. The incoming freshman had a cardiac arrest on July 24 and was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where it was revealed that a congenital heart defect was the probable cause for the health scare.
On Monday, Dec. 4, USC Trojans basketball coach Andy Enfield stated that Bronny is just awaiting clearance for full-contact practice, but he was involved without contact during the session.

“Bronny has not been cleared fully yet from USC,” Enfield told the media outlet after the team practiced. “He can participate without contact. He’s done a good job of getting his conditioning and his strength back, and I think he’s on the path to being ready to play very quickly.”
So far, Bronny has gone through five-on-zero noncontact work, shooting as well as individual drills. He was also involved in pregame warmups with his teammates.
“We hope to get Bronny on the court as soon as possible,” Enfield said. “The heart specialist, the doctors at USC, those are people that have to give the approval, and I know they’re working diligently on the whole process. I commend them for all they’ve done as part of this.”
Enfield also says that his teammates are glad to see him on the court, and the university is also enthusiastic.
“Everybody’s excited to see Bronny on the court. The fans, teammates, everybody around our program and university. Bronny’s done a great job of mentally and physically getting back to this point and I think he’s very anxious to get back full-time playing. We’re excited to watch him play.”
The Trojans will be playing at home against Long Beach State this upcoming Dec. 10.
Tyson Refuses $450K Settlement In Airplane Brawl With Intoxicated Passenger
Mike Tyson has categorically stated that he will not comply with a pre-litigation settlement demand of $450,000 made by Melvin Townsend III.
As reported by TheLA Times, former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson has categorically stated that he will not comply with a pre-litigation settlement demand of $450,000 made by Melvin Townsend III, the man who claims to have been repeatedly punched by Tyson on a flight departing from San Francisco International Airport back in April 2022.
Attorney Jake Jondle, representing Townsend, sent a letter to Tyson’s attorney, Alex Spiro, last week, seeking a substantial settlement “in an effort to resolve this matter prior to protracted litigation.” Jondle proposed that, in exchange for the amount, Townsend would provide Tyson with a mutually agreeable release, preventing any future lawsuits related to the incident.
However, Spiro, responded to the demand, stating unequivocally, “There will be no shakedown payment.” Spiro dismissed the letter as a “shakedown letter related to some instigator’s harassment of Mike a year ago and the aftermath.”
The altercation between Tyson and Townsend took place on a JetBlue Airways flight bound for Florida on April 20, 2022. Townsend, reportedly intoxicated, was seated behind Tyson and allegedly making offensive remarks. The incident escalated, with video footage posted by TMZshowing Tyson standing and punching Townsend in the face multiple times.
In the letter presented to TheTimes last week, Jondle presented Townsend’s account of the incident.
“It is our position that Mr. Townsend was excited to see your client on the flight, began discussing the marijuana industry and psychedelic mushrooms with him, and Mr. Tyson became annoyed,” Jondle wrote. “Mr. Tyson then reached over the seat, grabbed Mr. Townsend by the shirt collar, and proceeded to repeatedly punch him in the head.
“As a former undisputed heavyweight champion, the potential to cause severe injuries to another person goes without question. There were several other remedies available to Mr. Tyson, but he chose physical violence.”
Despite the incident, neither Townsend nor Tyson desired criminal charges, and the San Mateo County District Attorney’s office decided not to pursue the case in the criminal justice system.
Jondle’s letter, dated Nov. 28, indicates that if the demand is not met, Townsend intends to pursue legal action, claiming he suffered immediate physical effects, ongoing health issues, and loss of employment due to the incident.
The letter also mentions an appearance by Tyson on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in 2022, during which Tyson laughed about the altercation but expressed remorse over the incident.
“I was wrong; that should’ve never happened,” Tyson said to Kimmel. “That’s me back in my primitive child stages, I shouldn’t have done that, but I was just irritated, tired, high, and pissed off.”
The legal battle between Tyson and Townsend now looms on the horizon, as the former undisputed heavyweight champion refuses to entertain the pre-litigation settlement.
Alicia Keys Musical ‘Hell’s Kitchen’ Moves To New Broadway Theater For Spring 2024
Singer Alicia Keys' "Hell's Kitchen" musical will have a new home on Broadway for the Spring 2024 showings.
Alicia Keys’ Hell’s Kitchen musical will have a new home for the Spring 2024 performances.
The musical, based on the Grammy-winning singer’s music catalog and showing at The Public Theater until January 14, 2024, will move to Broadway’s Shubert Theatre beginning March 28, TheaterMania reports. This comes ahead of its April 20 opening for 2024.
Keys’ coming-of-age musical is based on her teenage years living inside a federally subsidized Times Square apartment complex in New York City. The musical follows 17-year-old Ali as she makes several life-changing discoveries in the Big Apple.
It includes many of Keys’ timeless hits including “Girl on Fire,” “Fallin’,” and “Empire State of Mind.” The musical’s off-Broadway run was hailed by critic Zachary Stewart as, “easily the best new musical at the Public since Hamilton.”
With a score by Keys and a book by Kristoffer Diaz, Michael Greif directed the music, and Camille A. Brown served as choreographer. Keys’ AKW Productions is a producer on the show.
Casting for the Broadway run will be announced ahead of its Spring 2024 debut. The Off-Broadway cast included Shoshana Bean, Maleah Joi Moon, Brandon Victor Dixon, Kecia Lewis, Chris Lee, and Vanessa Ferguson, via The Hollywood Reporter. The design team on the musical includes scenic design by Robert Brill, costume design by Dede Ayite and lighting design by Natasha Katz.
“Good things take time and for 13 years, I’ve been dreaming, developing and finding inspiration for a musical based on my experience growing up in Hell’s Kitchen, NYC. Hell’s Kitchen is inspired by my life, but it’s not a biographical story. It’s a story about family relationships and identity: Who are we? Who do we want to be? Who are we becoming?” Keys said.
“The score features new songs that I’m really excited to get out into the world alongside many of my album releases that you know but you’ve never heard like this – rearranged and reinterpreted.”
Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney Announces Bid For Governor Of Virginia In 2025
Stoney is set to battle with U.S. Representative Abigail Spanberger for the party's nomination
The Democratic mayor of Richmond, Virginia, has his eye on the governor’s seat as he announced on Dec. 4 that he will be running for the office in 2025, ABC News reports.
Levar Stoney announced via X, formerly known as Twitter, that his campaign focuses on all Virginians having a fair shot at success.
“I’ve seen Virginia’s potential. It’s where a story like mine was possible. But today, success depends too much on your zip code,” Stoney wrote.
“I want to build a Virginia where EVERYONE has a fair shot. No matter where you live. That’s why I’m running to be your next Governor of Virginia.”
His story gives a delicate narration of taking a bite out of success. Stoney was the first member of his family to graduate from high school and college. This video was dedicated to his father, who passed away in 2011. According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, his father died while working multiple low-paying jobs to pay for Stoney’s education.
His father’s dedication didn’t go in vain. After graduation, he started his career, serving as the first Black Secretary of the Commonwealth, and now, during his second term as the city’s mayor, he wants to focus on important issues facing the city— cleaning the city’s finances, improving the roads, reducing the poverty rate and providing affordable housing and new schools. Stoney touches on how his life inspired his desire to run.
“That’s why I’m running for governor. For families like mine that just need an opportunity. For kids like me who will thrive in school if they just get the right chance,” he said.
“And for parents like my dad who work multiple jobs and still struggle to live a secure, middle-class life.”
His campaign video also touches on some of the successes on his resume as mayor, including getting rid of things that don’t sit well with residents or projects that don’t provide any economic value. There has been a twice-rejected proposal for a casino resort as well as the failed redevelopment of the Navy Hill downtown. Instead, Stoney focused on the values of the people of Richmond.
“Right now, families across Virginia are struggling, just like mine did,” Stoney said.
“Kids aren’t getting the education they deserve, just because they live in the wrong ZIP code.”
“And we have a governor who is more worried about his own agenda that yours and more focused on taking away people’s rights than lifting them up.”
Stoney is set to battle with U.S. Rep. Abigail Spanberger for the party’s nomination; Spanberger is giving up a fourth term in Congress in hopes of potentially becoming the first woman to serve as governor.
Suge Knight ‘Slapped the Sh*t Out Of’ Anyone In Prison Who Trash-Talked Oprah Winfrey
Suge Knight admits to slapping up anyone in prison who speaks negatively about the Black Queen Oprah Winfrey.
Oprah Winfrey has an ally in Suge Knight. The former Death Row CEO is opening up about his love for the media mogul that goes so deep, Knight admits to slapping up anyone in prison who speaks negatively about Queen Oprah.
Knight was speaking candidly on the latest episode of Collect Call with Suge Knight about the fight he got into in jail with one inmate who tried bad-mouthing Winfrey.
“I remember back in the day, doing time, when people said something bad about Oprah Winfrey. Sh*t, I got in their a**,” Knight said. “You talking about this Black woman. I fried their sh*t up, slapped the sh*t out of them—‘Don’t say nothing about this Black sister.’”
Despite his admitted admiration for Winfrey, Knight still questions why she refused to have rappers on her famed talk show during its heyday in the 90s and early 2000s.
“At the same time, Oprah wouldn’t put rappers on her show, but Oprah promoted Straight Outta Compton,” he said. “Even though Straight Outta Compton tried to kill me and had me doing time right now.”
Knight is currently serving a 28-year sentence for a fatal hit-and-run incident in 2015 that occurred due to his issues with the film Straight Outta Compton. Terry Carter was killed after Knight and one of his longtime rivals, Cle “Bone” Sloan, started fighting outside a Compton burger stand in January 2015, the Florida Times-Union reports.
Knight was upset about his portrayal in the N.W.A. biopic, which Sloan was serving as a consultant. Knight seriously injured Sloan after hitting him with his pickup truck before speeding through the parking lot and running over Carter as he fled the scene.
In October 2018, Knight was sentenced to 28 years in prison, 22 years for running over Clark and 6 years because it was Knight’s third strike under California’s three-strikes law. Knight is currently serving out his sentence at RJ Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego and will not be eligible for parole until October 2034.
He launched his podcast from prison in October and it’s been getting him into more trouble. Akon recently threatened to sue Knight after he accused the singer of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old.
Jadakiss Accuses Las Vegas Casino Of Racial Profiling: ‘I’m Never Coming Back’
Jadakiss is calling out a Las Vegas casino he believes racially profiled him by having him escorted out last week.
Jadakiss is calling out a Las Vegas casino he believes racially profiled him by having him escorted out.
The rapper posted a video on Dec. 1 calling out the NoMad in Vegas after he was removed from the casino. The Lox member said he had been gambling at the casino since Wednesday, until things apparently went left.
“Don’t ever gamble at The NoMad ever again,” Kiss said in a clip captured by Hip Hop DX. “I don’t know what happened. I’ve been gambling here since Wednesday.
“I’m a tax-paying citizen. I’ve been losing my shirt, socks, everything. They come to me at the end of the night talking ’bout ‘I need your…’” while motioning with his hands.
He continued, “I didn’t lose that much. I didn’t win nothing.”
Jadakiss didn’t explain what led to his removal but did question if he was being racially profiled.
“Is this racial profiling? I’m out of here. I’m never coming back. Half a million. F-ck the Nomad,” he declared.
However, Jadakiss still has plenty to celebrate after the recent launch of Spot Filled, his production company. With the writers and actors strike coming to an end, Jadakiss says his company is “back active.”
“You need scripts, you need production, anything you need hit up my partner Larry Legend and we gonna get it poppin,” he said in an Instagram post. “Spot Filled is the company. Get ready for the takeover.”
Prio to the production company, Jadakiss launched a coffee company with his father and son, called Kiss Cafe. The “Knock Yourself Out” rapper continues to expand his entrepreneurial efforts despite the setbacks he might’ve experienced at one Las Vegas casino.
