Tyler Perry’s Lawyer Calls Out ‘Fabricated Claims’ In $260M Sexual Harassment Lawsuit

Tyler Perry's lawyers are calling one actor's $260 million sexual harassment lawsuit a "scam."

Tyler Perry’s lawyer is blasting the “fabricated claims” an actor and screenwriter is bringing against the billionaire media mogul in a bombshell $260 million lawsuit.

Derek Dixon, who appeared in two projects produced by Perry, filed a 46-page complaint in Los Angeles County Superior Court accusing Perry of using his “his “wealth and influence” to pursue “a sexual relationship with a man who would remain silent,” NBC News reported. But Perry’s lawyer dismissed the allegations, calling the $260 million lawsuit a money-grabbing “scam.”

Perry’s legal team accuses Dixon of trying to get close to the famed producer “for what now appears to be nothing more than setting up a scam. But Tyler will not be shaken down, and we are confident these fabricated claims of harassment will fail.”

Dixon met Perry in 2019 while working for an events company. The actor claims the Madea star picked him out and asked for his phone number, promising a possible acting gig. Soon, Dixon was offered a small two-episode role in Perry’s Ruthless series.

After that, Dixon claims he was invited to Perry’s Atlanta home, where he fell asleep in a guest room after drinking too much. The actor claims Perry got into the bed with him and started touching his thighs. Dixon claims to have turned down Perry’s advances, but the lawsuit alleges that the media mogul continued his pursuit of the actor.

Perry soon offered Dixon the role of Dale in The Oval, which was a big step for his acting career. But he claims what followed was sexually suggestive texts from Perry, including questions about his sexual preferences, insinuations of being “horny,” and claims of having sex with men. The suit also claims Perry would call him daily as if he were his on-call “pet.”

The suit claims that Dixon continued to turn down Perry’s advances while remaining friendly, out of fear of jeopardizing his career.

“Dixon kept informing Perry that he was not into sex to keep Perry at bay while at the same time not insulting the person who was dangling his career in front of him,” the suit said.

The lawsuit accuses Perry of groping Dixon twice in 2020, including during a cast trip to the Bahamas. It also accuses Perry of pulling down Dixon’s underwear at his home in 2020, where he “vigorously grabbed and groped his buttocks in a sexual manner,” leaving Dixon “naked, shocked, and overwhelmed with fear.”

Dixon continued his professional relationship with Perry, which led to a raise in season two of The Oval. Perry also told Dixon that he wanted to buy the rights to shoot a pilot for a script Dixon had written, called Losing It. The suit claims Dixon wrestled with going public with the allegations or accepting Perry’s money, but he ultimately gave in to pressure to protect his career.

The suit alleges that Perry bought and filmed the script for Losing It with no real intention of producing it, using the project as leverage over Dixon in a quid pro quo. The show was never developed, and when Perry later offered Dixon a writing role on another project, Dixon declined and filed a complaint with the EEOC.

Dixon is now seeking $260 million in punitive damages, comparing Perry’s alleged actions to those of other high-profile figures in the entertainment industry accused of sexual misconduct.

“Mr. Perry’s success has led him to believe that money and influence can get him whatever he wants,” the complaint said. “Mr. Perry sought the one thing his wealth and influence could not purchase — a sexual relationship with a man who would remain silent.”

Gunna hopes the camp will do more than sharpen their defense. He encourages kids to go “beyond the game” and stay undefeated in their minds.

The kids will also engage in a thoughtful Q&A session about overcoming mental health struggles and other obstacles with Gunna and the athletes, who expressed their excitement to take part in the endeavor.

“This camp is about planting seeds-in football, in life, and in purpose. I know what it means to grow up with big dreams and limited resources,” added Tunsil. “If we can be a source of inspiration and opportunity for these kids, even just for a day, that impact can last a lifetime.”

With fun still in mind, Gunna and the NFL players will showcase their gaming skills in a competition against their younger opponents, concluding a jam-packed day of sports and communal uplift.

Richard Sherman Charged With DUI For Incident Leading To February 2024 Arrest

The results of a blood test Sherman took the night of his arrest have just came back

After being arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in September 2024, former NFL cornerback Richard Sherman was officially charged with DUI on June 17.

According to ESPN, a spokesperson with the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office relayed the news to the media outlet, confirming the charge. Officials were waiting for the results of a blood test Sherman took on the night of the arrest from the Washington State Patrol Crime Lab. The analysis stated that the former Seattle Seahawks player had a blood alcohol level of around 0.11, which placed it above the state’s legal limit of 0.08.

The gross misdemeanor charge against him includes an enhancement for refusing a breath test. He is slated to be arraigned June 30.

The former athlete, who is currently an analyst for Amazon Prime’s Thursday Night Football, was picked up by Washington State Patrol in King County, Washington, at 3:48 a.m. on Feb. 24, 2024. He was booked into King County Correctional Facility at 4:51 a.m. after being accused of driving under the influence.

Trooper Jordan Hazzard-Thomas, who was at the traffic stop, stated that while talking to Sherman, he noticed “the odor of intoxicants” and that the analyst’s eyes appeared to be “bloodshot and watery.”

This isn’t Sherman’s first time being arrested. During the summer of 2021, Sherman was arrested after being accused of driving under the influence. He crashed his SUV in a construction zone while trying to break into his in-laws’ suburban Seattle home. Charges against him included allegations of criminal trespass, DUI, and resisting arrest.

He entered a guilty plea in March 2022 to two misdemeanor counts: first-degree negligent driving and second-degree criminal trespass. As part of his plea arrangement, he agreed to court supervision through part of 2024 and a suspended 90-day jail sentence.

While playing for the Seahawks, Sherman participated in two Super Bowl games, winning in 2014. After leaving the team in 2018, he signed with the San Francisco 49ers and made a return to the Super Bowl in 2019, but the team lost. He ended his playing career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2022.

Fani Willis, DOJ, Trump

Fani Willis Thoroughly Checks Reporter For Criticizing Results Of The YSL Case

Willis addressed taxpayers concerns, safety and crime

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis had some choice words for an Atlanta reporter who criticized the YSL case and the lack of murder convictions, claiming the real focus should be on the decline in crime rates.

Willis was stopped in a courthouse by an 11 Alive reporter who wanted her thoughts on taxpayers allegedly feeling the highly publicized YSL case, featuring rapper Young Thug, was a waste of time and money since there were ultimately no convictions.

The district attorney had a rebuttal saying the reporter and the team should stop going to defense attorneys that were not involved and don’t care about the Black community, asking for their opinion that may spin a narrative. “What I want to say to you as a reporter and I want your other reporters to be responsible is you keep going to defense attorneys who put their children in private schools in communities that are not our communities and really don’t care about the African-American community,” she said.

She continued to let him know what really went down in the case, so taxpayers can get a better understanding. “What you need to understand is there were 19 convictions. Seven I decided to non prose mostly because they were doing life sentences on murder,” Willis continued.

“Just yesterday, Channel 2 and an affiliate covered a YSL murder of a 21-year-old mother in front of her 2 year old child and go look at the statistics, crime is down. So what taxpayers that I say, what my constituents say who just voted me by 68% is, ‘she’s doing an amazing job,’ we are making sure that this community is safe, that crime is the lowest here of most place in the United States of Americas, I think we’re like number three and its because of the efforts I have done against gangs. Stop glorifying violence and stop making it so that some victims don’t matter.”

Willis’ comments came shortly after one of the remaining defendants in the case that’s been going on since 2022, Demise McMullen, pleaded guilty to an aggravated assault charge, according to Complex. Following the guilty plea,  the final results revealed 28 defendants, and no murder convictions.

Thug, whose real name is Jeffrey Lamar Williams and was accused of co-founding and leading YSL, was released on probation in October 2024 after pleading guilty to gun, drug, and gang charges amid initially facing eight criminal charges.

However, Willis, who has shared her own form of criticism during President Donald Trump’s election fraud case, is correct in her claims of Fulton County and Atlanta being safer. Mayor Andre Dickens said in January 2025 that the city was on track to becoming  the safest large city in America. Statistics read by Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum show crime plummeted in areas like southeast Atlanta and communities such as Capital View, Mechanicsville, and Summer Hill.

Schierbaum said homicides were down 8%, with more than 3,000 guns being removed from the streets, and drug operations slowing down.

Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson Was Paid A Handsome Bag For ‘Lovely One’ Memoir

Justice Jackson disclosed her hefty $2M payment

Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson’s financial disclosures reveal a $2.1 million pay bump.

June 16, as a part of the high court’s yearly reporting, Justice Jackson’s financials were released. Through the release of her memoir, “Lovely One,” the Supreme Court judge earned millions in additional income. Random House published Lovely One in September 2024. The publishing house paid Jackson a $2 million advance, according to the Associated Press.

As the first Black woman to sit on the Supreme Court, many are interested in Justice Jackson’s journey. Her path to the history-making achievement appropriately commanded a fitting price. Jackson is not the only Supreme Court justice who is supplementing their income by securing a book deal.

In 2024, Justice Neil Gorsuch released Overruled: The Human Toll of Too Much Law. Additionally, to date, Justice Sotomayor has published seven works, many of which have been translated into English and Spanish.

During the release of her book, Justice Jackson spoke about the accomplishment. While touring to promote her album “Lovely Ones,” Jackson said with NPR about what inspires her. Her inspiration informs her steps to pen a memoir while simultaneously working as a Supreme Court Justice. This job places her comfortably in the upper-middle class, with a salary of over $300,000.

“I love the idea that in order to be successful, it takes hard work,” Jackson says. “You can’t always control whether you’re the smartest person in the room, for example, but you [can] commit to being the hardest worker.”

Justice Jackson’s transparency comes without scandal. However, not all Justices can say the same. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas has been the subject of scrutiny over his past nondisclosures to the court. Thomas has been the recipient of lavish gifts throughout his 33-year tenure on the high court.

BLACK ENTERPRISE reported on Justice Thomas amending his disclosures to reflect real estate from top Republican donor Harlan Crow. The deal allowed Thomas’s family members to live on three of Harlow’s properties rent-free for an indefinite period.

Thomas was also given trips abroad, including transportation by private jet and free lodging from Crow.

Justice Thomas claimed the trips to the Adirondacks were taken on his time. Thus, he felt no need to disclose the information. As he has sat on the court for more than three decades, many are skeptical of his excuse. While members of Congress called for the Justice’s impeachment, he remains a member of the court.

Howard University Partners With Largest Campus Retailer To Upgrade Bookstore And Lower Textbook Costs At HBCU

The school expects to have a completely revamped bookstore by summer 2026.

Howard University is getting some major upgrades this school year. The HBCU has partnered with the largest campus retailer to revamp its bookstore while also lowering textbook costs for students.

Follett Higher Education will boost the student experience at Howard by providing these new services. Incorporated at over 1,000 schools, Follett has maintained itself as a driver of campus retail improvements. It aims to bring its talents to Howard and ensure its campus retail experience aligns with the university’s legacy.

Alongside a complete remodel, the upgrades will spotlight alumni and Black-owned businesses at the campus bookstore. According to CBS4, the newly envisioned store will also include authorized Apple products for students’ purchase through an expanded technology section.

“Howard University is proud to partner with Follett Higher Education to reimagine the campus retail experience,” said LaNiece Tyree, Howard University’s Office of Auxiliary Enterprises Assistant Vice President. “Follett’s commitment to honoring our legacy and culture through localized assortments, partnerships with Black-owned and alumni-owned brands, and a refreshed in-store experience aligns with our vision and values. We are excited to offer our students, alumni, and community a space that celebrates Bison pride while meeting their needs in a modern, dynamic environment.”

However, Follett will also offer its access program to help combat the rising cost of attending school. With Follett Access, students will receive automatic, digital-first access to required course materials on the first day of classes. Students obtain the materials through an optional course fee, but can receive them at low market prices. Print textbooks are still available, with Follett working with publishers to secure an affordable rate for students.

Given the ongoing concerns regarding college costs, Howard and Follett’s partnership aims to lessen these issues with this affordability program, while also improving the campus experience.

“Follett is known for creating impressive retail spaces brimming with campus pride, excitement, connection, and achievement — and that’s precisely what the Bison community will experience at the Howard University Bookstore,” said Follett’s Chief Executive Officer Emmanuel Kolady. “We work hard to meet campus communities where they are, addressing their needs so they can focus on academic success. We’re honored to join forces with Howard to improve the campus retail operation with enhanced visual merchandising, more local and meaningful brand spotlights, and an elevated customer experience.”

The news also comes at a time when Howard has already upgraded its research status. The school currently hails as the only HBCU classified as a R1 research institution. With more Black scholars now able to research and pursue doctoral studies, having stronger access to course materials has become a priority.

The complete remodel of the campus bookstore is expected to be completed by summer 2026. However, Follett has already begun revitalizing its in-person and online retail operations. It will offer an expansion of apparel options and 24/7 access to campus materials, supporting students year-round.

Elevating your excellence, Tamika D. Mallory

Elevating Your Excellence: Tamika D. Mallory Is The Contemporary Voice Of The People

Her journey highlights the profound impact one person can have when driven by principle and purpose.

Tamika D. Mallory, a nationally recognized civil rights activist and seasoned community organizer, continues galvanizing justice movements. She recently published a deeply personal memoir that traces her evolution from a curious Bronx girl to an internationally revered advocate.

Mallory’s impact on American social reform is underscored by her pioneering work and an unwavering commitment to marginalized communities.

Born on June. 8, 1980, in The Bronx, New York, Mallory’s trajectory in activism began early, influenced by her parents, Stanley and Voncile Mallory, who were founding members of Rev. Al Sharpton’s National Action Network (NAN), a prominent U.S. civil rights organization. Mallory formally joined NAN at age 11 and became a staff member by 15, ultimately becoming the youngest executive director in the organization’s history. She departed NAN in 2013 to pursue her independent activist endeavors.

Mallory gained widespread prominence as a national co-chair of the 2017 Women’s March on Washington, an event that mobilized an estimated 500,000 participants in the nation’s capital and millions more in sister marches worldwide, marking it as possibly the largest single-day protest in U.S. history. Though she and co-chairs Bob Bland and Linda Sarsour resigned from the Women’s March board in July 2019 amid internal disputes and accusations, her role in its foundational success remains undisputed.

Her powerful oration during the George Floyd protests in 2020, widely dubbed “the speech of a generation,” connected with millions globally and became the impetus for her bestselling book, STATE OF EMERGENCY: How We Win in the Country We Built.

The seminal address cemented her status as a crucial voice in the contemporary civil rights landscape.

Mallory’s advocacy extends to pivotal issues, including gun violence prevention and criminal justice reform. Following the tragic murder of her son’s father in 2001, she worked closely with the Obama administration on gun control legislation.

The activist also continues to honor the memory of Breonna Taylor. On what would have been her 32nd birthday, Mallory reaffirmed an unwavering commitment to securing justice for the slain woman.

Mallory’s heartfelt message sparked deep concern over the Trump administration’s Department of Justice stepping back from a pivotal consent decree, a measure designed to hold the Louisville Metro Police Department accountable.

With compelling eloquence, she implored that pressure remain steadfast on city leadership to honor their stated commitments, reiterating the solemn need to continually “say her name.”

This call to action stands as a profound testament to the ongoing, unwavering struggle for systemic rightness.

“Today, our beloved Breonna Taylor should be turning 32 years old. Help us wish Breonna a Happy Heavenly Birthday! Our fight for accountability will never end, and neither will her memory. As Trump’s Department of Justice ends the consent decree that would hold the Louisville Metro Police Department Accountable, we must continue to fight. We must hold the mayor and [the] city accountable to do what they said they would.

We MUST continue to say her name. Happy Birthday, BREONNA!!!!! We need something different,” she penned on Instagram on June 5.

In 2014, she played a pivotal role in establishing New York City’s $100 million Crisis Management System for gun violence prevention, serving on Mayor Bill de Blasio’s transition committee and as co-chair of Gun Violence Awareness Month.

In early 2025, Mallory released I Lived to Tell the Story: Love, Legacy, and Resilience, a poignant coming-of-age memoir that delves beyond public triumphs to offer a deeply personal reflection on her journey, encompassing experiences of love, loss, sexual assault, and motherhood. The book, lauded as “raw” and “heartfelt,” explores healing and perseverance after the smoke clears.”

As co-founder of Until Freedom, she continues to champion marginalized communities. She co-hosts the TMI Podcast (Tamika & Mysonne’s Information) on iHeart Radio’s Black Effect Network.

Recognized among Time 100’s Most Influential People and featured on Fortune’s World’s Greatest Leaders lists, Mallory has garnered numerous accolades, including the esteemed Phoenix Award from the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation

Mallory stands as an emblem of tenacity, a formidable force whose dedication to justice burns with an unyielding flame. Her committed and profound grasp of the intricate tapestry of American civil rights, coupled with an innate ability to articulate its challenges and triumphs, positions her as a singular voice in contemporary activism.

The Bronx native possesses a rare alchemy of intellectual rigor and visceral passion, transforming complex societal issues into compelling calls for action. Her work transcends the ephemeral nature of headlines, instead etching itself into the very fabric of progress through tireless groundwork and strategic foresight.

Mallory’s capacity to inspire extends beyond fodder; it manifests in the tangible changes she helps orchestrate, from pioneering gun violence prevention initiatives to shaping national dialogues on racial equity. She is a living testament to the transformative power of unwavering conviction, continuously demonstrating that authentic leadership is forged not just in moments of public acclaim but in the sustained and arduous pursuit of a more equitable world for all.

Her journey highlights the profound impact one person can have when driven by principle and purpose.

Wiz Khalifa Admits To Smoking 30 Joints A Day

He made the revelation on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"

Pittsburgh recording artist Wiz Khalifa smokes 30 joints a day.

While appearing on the June 13 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Kimmel took the asked Wiz if he liked “to burn things, in general” Apparently, knowing what was next, he point-blank asked the rapper if the rumors of him smoking 30 joints a day were true. The lyricist responded right away.

Kimmel said that the number of joints he inhales every day works out to the rapper smoking “one and three-quarter joints an hour.”

“Yeah, that’s not bad at all,” he quipped.

Wiz explained that’s not the only thing he does.

“Yeah, yeah, yup. I have things to do. I work out—I got kids, so I do a lot of different things.”

“Somebody put it a really good way the other day,” Wiz said. “They said it’s like a mental exercise, like, you smoke, and then you just challenge yourself to do normal things throughout the day.”

When he started smoking, which was in his teens, it wasn’t just to smoke.

“It was just for music purposes, like, being in the studio and hanging around other musicians; it was just the thing to do…It kind of became something that, you know, later on in life helped me to get through a lot of things.”

The conversation was mostly about him smoking, a reputation warranted after his breakout single, “Black & Yellow,” made him a star.

Kimmel did get a chance to ask him about his belief that the world is flat, but, based on Wiz’s response, he wasn’t sure if he really believed it himself.

The rapper was on the show to promote his latest album, Kush + Orange Juice 2, as he prepares to perform with DaBaby and Sean Paul on his “Good Vibes Only Tour.”
