The commander-in-chief, on Wednesday, said Democrats could again takeover the House of Representatives in the 2014 midterm elections, Reuters reports

But it will be an uphill battle, he conceded at fundraisers for Democratic House candidates in Chicago.

“We’ve got a politics

that is stuck right now. And the reason it’s stuck is because people spend more time thinking about the next election than they do thinking about the next generation,” said Obama, referring to the “obstructionist” Republicans who currently control the House.

The president said he remains willing to work with Republicans to tackle the big priorities of his second term — immigration reform, the national budget and gun control — which have been stalled by bitter partisanship in Washington.
