On Sept. 11, 2015, Harlem Fashion Row celebrated the contributions of multicultural fashion designers and influencers with an awards and fashion show. More than your typical New York City Fashion week show, the “HFR Experience†included a diverse and incredibly talented lineup of fashion designers and influencers honoring–Tracee Ellis Ross (ICON 360 Award), Macy’s (Vanguard Award), InStyle
‘s Kahlana Barfield (Editor of the Year), Bevy Smith (Trailblazer Award), Misa Hilton & Groovey Lew (Maverick Award), Azede Jean-Pierre (Designer of the Year) and Rachel Johnson (Stylist of the Year Award). Brandice Daniel, the founder of Harlem Fashion Row hosted the event, Mary J. Blige and Janice Combs (Diddy’s mom) were on hand to support good friend Misa Hilton, and the event also attracted Beyoncé’s stylist, Ty Hunter and celebrities, Sheryl Lee Ralph and Justine Skye.As each honoree took center stage, the theme became evident: support, sisterhood, and empowerment. Fashion King Groovey Lew shared a humble yet empowering message about staying true to who you are, and stylist to the stars Rachel Johnson, paid homage to Misa Hilton, Bevy Smith, and more for carving out a lane for new and aspiring fashion stylist.On the fashion runway, the diverse lineup of fashion designers didn’t disappoint.
