New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo doubled down Monday, repeating that he was not interested in becoming Attorney General if Joe Biden wins the election.
In an interview on NBC’s Today show, the governor said he was not interested in the position.
“I’m a New Yorker. I said I would serve as governor,” Cuomo added. “And those rumors … those are only from people who want to get me out of New York. I don’t know why, but that’s where that’s coming from.”

The two have been close friends for years and Cuomo even spoke on Biden’s behalf at the Democratic National Convention.
Cuomo’s name has been thrown around for other roles in a Biden administration including White House Chief of Staff. Cuomo previously served as former President Bill Clinton’s secretary of Housing and Urban Development from 1997 to 2001.
According to Politico, Cuomo previously indicated he would not serve in another high-level administration post.
“I was in the Cabinet. I was in Bill Clinton’s Cabinet,” Cuomo told ABC’s Good Morning America
in a June interview. “Been there, done that.”Cuomo has also repeatedly called out President Trump for his coronavirus response and how it has affected the city that never sleeps. Last week, Cuomo called Trump’s coronavirus response the worst failure since Pearl Harbor and last week said Trump is actively trying to kill New York City. Additionally,
after Trump admitted he was infected with the coronavirus, Cuomo sent a care package to President Trump and his wife Melania.Early in the pandemic, Cuomo was praised for his handling of the coronavirus pandemic. He held press conferences daily and even became a bit of a social media sensation. However, he was criticized for the way he handled nursing homes during the pandemic.
