The National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) today announced it’s 2012 “Regional Minority Supplier of Year Winners.” The 16 outstanding Asian, Black, Hispanic and Native American-owned businesses represent a broad range of industries, including construction/general contracting, creative services, facilities maintenance, information technology, security systems, staffing and professional services, and transportation services.
“NMSDC is proud to honor this year’s regional supplier of the year winners,†said NMSDC President Joset B. Wright. “They represent the best-of-the-best among our 16,000 certified minority businesses, providing innovative products and exemplary service to their corporate customers in support of the global supply chain.â€
The 16 regional winners are nominated by their corporate customers, and are divided into four classes based on annual sales. NMSDC-certified minority-owned businesses are evaluated on the basis of business growth, development and performance, community service and the ability to overcome challenges brought on by the company owner’s heritage or background.
Of special note is World Wide Technology in Maryland Heights, Missouri. David L. Steward is co-founder and chairman of this 22-year-old systems integrator company which lists major customers such as AT&T, Boeing, Cisco, Hewlett-Packard, Kaiser Permanente, Lockheed Marten, Microsoft, Pacific Gas& Electric and Wells Fargo. The black-owned company had $2.7 billion in sales in 2011 and is a perennial fixture atop Black Enterprise magazine’s BE100 list of leading industrial/service enterprises.
