It’s a big day for Maryland Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown. During a community cookout at Prince George’s Community College on Friday afternoon, Brown is expected to announce that he will run for governor.
If elected, the 51-year-old Democrat and decorated U.S. Army vet would be the first African American governor of Maryland. (Yes, there are still firsts to be had.)
This weekend kicks off a series of events for Brown. Gov. Martin O’Malley is scheduled to appear with Brown at a campaign related event in Baltimore on Saturday.
