Harlem’s Fashion Row, partnered with Mariott International, presented a pop-up shop at the Renaissance New York Hotel 57 on Thursday, Sept. 7. Attendees enjoyed cocktails and music on the rooftop of the hotel and were allowed access to the several designers that Harlem’s Fashion Row presented in their New York Fashion Week show. Check out some info of the designers below:
DESIGNER: B. MARIE, accessories
INSPIRATION: Briana Marie AKA B. Marie, has had the collection for six years, wanted a collection that not only looks great but is affordable. “One of the items I made are leather opera gloves. Gloves are so expensive and rarely offer different types. My gloves are competitively priced (ranging from $90 to $180) and stylish.
PRACTICAL USE: B. Marie insists that while her collection is edgy, it’s appropriate for career women. Whether its her bags, her gloves, her silk scarves, there’s something in there for every occasion in a women’s life.
SOLD WHERE: B. Marie is currently working on expanding the brand. “Right now it’s sold out my site as well as a few stores. We are working on getting the brand in stores across the nationâ€.
WHY HARLEM FASHION ROW: Briana Marie is a Harlem Resident and says she believes in the movement. “There’s isn’t a lot of recognition for designers of color. HFR is helping to give designers the press and recognition they deserve.â€
DESIGNER: WASHINGTON ROBERTS
INSPIRATION: Michael Jackson. “I wanted to make a collection inspired by the iconic style of Michael Jackson, says the designer.

DESIGNER: CHEYENNE BEAM
INSPIRATION: The line Cheyenne Beam grew out of the designer’s frustration in the lack of options. ” I was looking for some cool bowties and I wasn’t able to find any that I really liked. So I decided to create one. Since then, the business has exploded.
PRACTICAL USE: “The bowties are fashion forward and can be worn by men or women. They are great ways to take looks from day to night.â€
