Morehouse Professor Named President of National Medical Association
Morehouse School of Medicine Professor Lawrence Sanders Jr. has just been named the 115th president of the National Medical Association.
Currently teaching internal medicine, business principles, and patient safety/quality improvement to students at Morehouse, Sanders has served as president of both the Atlanta Medical Association and the Georgia State Medical Association, and as a member of the steering committee for the Group on Faculty Practice of the American Association of Medical Colleges.
As a graduate of Clemson University, Vanderbilt University Medical School, and the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, Sanders says that his priority for the NMA is to ensure that the organization remains relevant, builds on its partnership with the American Medical Association, addresses the long-standing disparities in health and healthcare, and strengthens its presence at the state and local level.
NMA is currently a leading medical organization that caters to the interests of more than 32,000 physicians of African descent and promotes quality healthcare for all.
