Poll: Consumers Losing Sleep over Money and Working at Miserable Jobs
The National Foundation for Credit Counseling conducted a poll showing that close to 80% of consumers are experiencing sleeplessness due to financial troubles. More than 2,100 people were polled for the NFCC’s Financial Literacy Opinion Index.
Approximately 4% of respondents cited job security as the cause of their tossing and turning, and close to 2% blamed marriage problems and childcare issues for their night terrors. The other 13% say they don’t worry about anything and have no trouble sleeping through the night.
In addition, 37% of consumers are most embarrassed by the amount of credit card debt they’ve accumulated.
Another interesting finding: a portion of respondents are miserable in their jobs. Roughly 26% say they can’t seem to catch up with their tasks and wish they didn’t work for their current employer.
