Name: Adrian Fanus

View Quiz

Age: 33

Profession: Groomer

One Word That Describes You: Persistent

What does being one of the BEMM 100 Men of Distinction mean to you?

Fanus: I have always esteemed a BEMM to be a renaissance man. This means that I am a part of a fraternity of men who are movers, shakers, and helping to make their communities better.

What are some examples of how you turned struggle into success?

I first moved to America with $200 in my pocket and a dream. I have gotten more no’s than yes, but I used this as a wrecking ball to tear down walls and help build Adrian Fanus Grooming into what it is today.

What is an important quality you look for in your relationships with others?

One of the most important things in a relationship is energy and integrity. 90% of what we say is non-verbal, so listening to what is not said tells you everything you need to know.

What are some immediate projects you are working on?

I am currently working on a non-profit that will help teach vocational skills to young men and women worldwide.

What is the best advice you ever received?

The best advice I have received is that your thoughts control your world. So if you want to change your current circumstances you need to change your thoughts, and this will directly affect your attitude, which will turn circumstances around.

What is some advice you have for other men who want to make a difference?

The best place to start to make a difference is now, and where you are. Getting started and figuring it out along the way is better than procrastinating and never getting it done.

How do you prep for an important business meeting and/or event?

I prep by going over the details. Having the right information and expecting properly helps tremendously.

As a busy Modern Man, how do you unwind on vacation? Share a story about your best vacation.

I have recently shifted my perspective on what a vacation is, so I have turned my weekends into a reason to fly out the country. I recently went to London for a day, rented a car, and drove all around the city. It was exhilarating.

If you could travel and stay anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

I would move to Thailand because it reminds me very much of the Caribbean and the people are so laid back and easy going.

Anything else you’d like to say?

We are all passing through this world and it is our human obligation to make it better than we got it.

It’s our normal to be extraordinary. Follow @blackenterprise and join the BE Modern Man conversation using #BEModernMan.
