Fourteen–year-old Mixed-ish actress Trinitee Stokes is headed to college after spending her quarantine locked into her schoolwork.
The Jackson, Mississippi, native made history this month after becoming the youngest student to attend college and be admitted at the age of 14, WAPT reports. “The college classes, especially during COVID-19, I just stacked up and stacked up all of my learning and it equated to my teacher saying, ‘You’re going to be graduating this semester.’ I was like no way!” Stokes said.
As an actress, Stokes plays Tamika on the ABC hit Mixed-ish
and she has also starred on the Disney Channel series K.C. Undercover. As a student, she has always excelled, having skipped the second grade and even taking college classes when she was still in middle school.“I remember when I was younger I would say I’m not really feeling school today, and my mom was like if you make bad grades, you’re not going to set today,” Stokes recalled of her parents instilling the importance of education. “So, that helped me maintain all As and Bs throughout school,” she added.
She’s holding off on sharing the college she plans to attend but shared her plans to study politics. “My degree is going to be in politics,” she revealed. “Most likely I will be studying political communication with a minor in public diplomacy.”
She initially took to Instagram to share the big
news with her followers. “Soooo, I found out mid school year that I had enough credits to graduate high school and with honors,” she captioned a photo of her yearbook picture. “I also have 29 college credits! As of last month, I was accepted into college at age 14 AND with a merit scholarship. Y’all, I am so EXCITED and can’t wait to share with you my school choice and what I will be studying. Being in quarantine wasn’t ALL bad. LOL. The Lord can use EVERYTHING and work it for your good. I am career and education FOCUSED!”The young teen has been posing for photos while enjoying her college road trip. “College Road Trip!! Next stop Cherry Blosoms,” she captioned a recent solo shot of herself.
