His uber-conservative stance on government aid, foreign affairs and minorities have prompted everything from side eyes to utter outrage, and the release of a video featuring comments he made to wealthy contributors in Florida didn't help. Take a look at five such gaffes in his campaign that have not helped his image, as his and Obama's voter support gap narrows. (The latest Reuters/Ipsos poll shows Obama holding 48% support from likely voters to the GOP opponent's 43%. ) "There are 47% who are with him [Obama], who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe that government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you name it." --- Romney at a May 17 fundraiser in Boca Raton, Fla (From recently released video) "My dad, as you probably know, was the governor of Michigan and was the head of a car company. But he was born in Mexico ... and uh, had he been born of uh, Mexican parents, I'd have a better shot at winning this." ---Romney at a May 17 fundraiser in Boca Raton, Fla (From recently released video) "I'm in this race because I care about Americans. I'm not concerned about the very poor. We have a safety net there. If it needs repair, I'll fix it." ---Romney to CNN after win in the Florida primary "We have a president, who I think is a nice guy, but he spent too much time at Harvard, perhaps." ---Romney during a Pennsylvania campaign stop "I like being able to fire people who provide services to me."---Romney, during a speech in New Hampshire Additional reporting by Sasha King
