Family and friends of former President Barack Obama shared public tributes on social media Wednesday, wishing him a happy 60th birthday.
The most notable of them all came from none other than the former first lady, Michelle Obama. She posted a photo of them and their daughters, Malia and Sasha, on Instagram with a heartfelt caption.
“Of all the accomplishments, I know that being a present, loving father to our girls tops them all. Thank you for never letting the weight of the world get in the way of being a wonderful husband and father. Happy 60th birthday,
@BarackObama! 💕”She later posted a 2008 Ebony magazine cover of Barack getting out of an SUV in a suit and shades. She captioned the nostalgic photo with, “Still turning my head after all these years. Love you, Barack ❤️😘.”
President Joe Biden joined the bandwagon with a tribute on Twitter. Along with a picture of them high-fiving, he wrote, “Happy Birthday, @BarackObama. I’m proud to call you a brother and a friend — and I’m grateful for your selfless service to this nation.”
Hillary Clinton joined in with a simple tweet: “Happy Birthday, my friend.”
English broadcaster Piers Morgan shared a photo of him and Barack on Instagram. He captioned the post: “Happy 60th Birthday @barackobama—hard to believe you’re only 4 years older than me, but I guess you must have a better surgeon.”
The posts are just the beginning of the birthday excitement for Barack. He and Michelle are hosting a party this weekend at their estate in Martha’s Vineyard. As previously reported, the Obamas recently scaled back the event after concern about the spread of COVID-19.
While the couple originally intended for a party of 475 guests, the gathering is now limited to family and close friends.
