McNeal Buys Black-Owned Printing Co.

Illinois-based Creative Printing Services became the largest African American-owned printing company in the nation in January when printing industry veteran Haves L. McNeal, 52, acquired 51% ownership.

Previously a senior vice president of operations for RR Donnelley, McNeal has already inked a strategic alliance with his former employer to work together on some printing projects.

The company has also obtained minority certification from the Chicago Minority Business Development Council, which makes it easier for large companies to find minority-owned suppliers. Creative Printing Services made $19 million in revenues in 2004, but McNeal wants to take the company “from a $20 million to a $30 million company over the next 18 to 24 months,” he says. — Tamara E. B.E. 100S CO. EXPANDS
Integrated Packaging Corp. opened a

new corrugated manufacturing plant in Alexandria, Louisiana, that is expected to create more than 50 new jobs within the first 18 months, says Chris Michel, IPC’s director of new business development. An additional 20 to 30 jobs could be produced if the facility is expanded to include a corrugator, he adds.

The plant was opened to support Procter & Gamble’s liquid laundry detergent plant in Pineville. “Procter & Gamble will buy roughly $26 million of corrugated packaging annually from IPC,” Michel says.
