Illinois-based Creative Printing Services became the largest African American-owned printing company in the nation in January when printing industry veteran Haves L. McNeal, 52, acquired 51% ownership.
Previously a senior vice president of operations for RR Donnelley, McNeal has already inked a strategic alliance with his former employer to work together on some printing projects.
The company has also obtained minority certification from the Chicago Minority Business Development Council, which makes it easier for large companies to find minority-owned suppliers. Creative Printing Services made $19 million in revenues in 2004, but McNeal wants to take the company “from a $20 million to a $30 million company over the next 18 to 24 months,” he says. — Tamara E.
