Lorenzo Brown, President and Managing Editor of Sister 2 Sister, Dies
Lorenzo Brown, Ph.D., president and managing editor of Sister 2 Sister magazine, died Aug. 21 after a battle with cancer, according to reports. He was 73.

Brown, the husband of the magazine’s publisher, Jamie Foster Brown, was an educator, author, entrepreneur, and social justice advocate who helped launch the publication in 1988. Popular for its keep-it-real celebrity interviews, the magazine discontinued its print version last year to focus on digital.
Before Sister 2 Sister magazine was launched, Brown served as a professor at Miles College in Birmingham, Alabama, and Howard University, and he also worked for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission while consulting for the C&P Telephone Co. (which is now part of Verizon).
Brown has two sons, Randall and Russell. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Monday, Aug. 31 at Zion Church, 3600 Brightseat Road, Landover, MD 20785, 301-583-1790.
