New Orleans rapper Lil Wayne was released from the hospital early this morning, according to a tweet from his close friend and rapper Mack Maine.
“Thanks to Cedar Sinai for everything!!! @LilTunechi has been officially been released and is headed home….God is great,” tweeted shortly after 2 a.m. on Tuesday.
Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Carter Jr., was rushed to the hospital after reportedly being found unconscious in his hotel room from a series of seizures. Reports say Wayne binged on codeine. Controversy surrounding the seriousness of Wayne’s health scare ensued after TMZ reported that the rapper was in critical condition and had been read his “last rites” by doctors. During that same time close friends and family of Wayne had tweeted that he was alive and well.
This isn’t the first time Wayne ended up in the hospital after suffering from seizures.
